Welcome!

Here at Victory Gardens of Oregon, it is our pleasure to provide you with helpful resources, direction and services to help you achieve the fruit and vegetable garden you’ve always dreamed of.

What is a Victory Garden?

Victory Gardens began during World War I and World War II.  Because of the war that was going on, the US didn’t have enough food to be able to support all of its citizens and its troops.

So in an attempt to get individual households growing their own fruits and vegetables, the United States government requested its citizens to plant gardens for victory, in order to help the war effort that was going on overseas.

Because of this, millions of people around the US and the world began to grow their own vegetables.  Their slogan was “If weeds and flowers can grow in it, so can vegetables”.

What about today?

Now, flash ahead 60-70 years later.  Our economy is in need of some serious help, gas prices rise ridiculously high one month and fall the next, record amounts of people are out of work,  our food travels an average 1500 miles from food to table, the list goes on and on.  We have become so dependent on outside food sources, that most have all but forgotten how to grow their own food.  Many people don’t know where to begin.

Where we come in

“I would love to grow on my lawn, but my lawn has too many toxic chemicals in it to be able to grow good food”

“I would love to have a raised bed, but I don’t have the desire, ability or the know  how to go about putting one together”

Not to worry, that is why we are here.  We can help you turn your dream of becoming more self sustainable into a reality.  Whether you just need some advice on how to set up an indoor/outdoor garden yourself, or you would like us to come in, set it up and make it as easy as possible for you to maintain, we are just a phone call away.
